Enrique Iglesias and Nicole Scherzinger performed a steamy live duet of their hit single “Heartbeat” at the Isle of MTV festival in Floriana, Malta. The pair really gave a show to the audience, getting up close and personal with each other onstage throughout the duet. You could really feel the energy popping off the two stars, and both of them were clearly totally in the zone for the song.
Iglesias opened up “Heartbeat” with his breathy vocal, followed by Scherzinger’s lines, before they lifted the energy to sing the call and response chorus hook together. The duet took place during Iglesias’s seven-song set at the festival. The Maltese crowd really turned it up for it, jumping up and down throughout and sending plenty of energy back to the two stars. The duet attracted 102 million views on YouTube, making it Iglesias’s second most popular live performance on the platform.
Iglesias and Scherzinger performed “Heartbeat” at the Granaries in Floriana, Malta, during their appearance at the Isle of MTV festival in 2014. It seems MTV can’t get enough of Iglesias, as the 2014 event was his third appearance at the festival, following his appearances in 2007 and 2008. And with passionate performances like “Heartbeat”, there’s no doubt why MTV kept asking him to come back.
Fans loved to hear the duet, and added comments below the video such as “My favourite duet of all time. I can’t stop watching it. They are so adorable together. Just enough playing off each other.” and “The vocals and the chemistry in this one are beautiful. You can’t find these emotions in other videos. This one hits different.” It seems that duets are a specialty for Iglesias, as he also had a big hit on YouTube with his live take on “Tired of Being Sorry” with French songstress Nâdiya.
Iglesias released “Heartbeat” on June 8, 2010, as the third single from his ninth studio album, Euphoria. The Spanish star co-wrote the song with Jamie Scott and Mark Taylor, and performed it in the studio with Scherzinger. Critics praised the interplay of Iglesias and Scherzinger’s voices on “Heartbeat”. The song was a top 5 hit in numerous European markets, as well as hitting the top 10 in Australia and New Zealand. The single was particularly popular in Australia, going two times Platinum down under.
