At The Avicii Tribute Concert, American singer Adam Lambert paid tribute to the Swedish producer and musician by performing a funky rendition of “Lay Me Down,” a track on which he had collaborated with Avicii.
With an electrifying stage presence and a stunning pink outfit, Lambert wowed the Avicii concertgoers. The opportunity to sing the disco number again certainly brought him joy, and fans adored honoring Avicii’s work with the gifted performer.
Of course Lambert was killing it on “Lay Me Down,” effortlessly gliding over the song’s extremely high vocal runs. His ability to play such a challenging vocal part with such a light touch and ease is astounding. At Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, he undoubtedly brought the star power to the stage, and the 55,000-strong audience reacted enthusiastically.
Among the many popular videos from the Avicii Tribute Concert, Lambert’s live performance of “Lay Me Down” garnered an impressive 3.3 million views on YouTube. Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii, passed away on April 20, 2018, at the young age of 28. The Tim Bergling Foundation hosted the Avicii Tribute Concert, and all of the money raised will be distributed to organizations who focus on preventing suicide and improving mental health. David Guetta, Aloe Blacc, Kygo, Gavin DeGraw, Rita Ora, and a long list of other artists were among those performing at the December 5, 2019, performance. Aloe Blacc’s rendition of “Wake Me Up” was the event’s most-viewed act on YouTube.
Joined by Nile Rodgers and Arash Pournouri, “Lay Me Down” was co-written by Avicii and Lambert. Not only did Avicii and Pournouri produce the song, but all four artists are listed as having contributed to its composition. Rodgers, a legendary Chic guitarist, adds his trademark funk electric guitar to the track, which elevates it to new heights.
The single “Lay Me Down” debuted on April 21, 2014, and it quickly became a smash across Europe, including Sweden, where it was certified gold.
