Many people have said nice things about Jonnie Irwin, who played a part in A Place in the Sun and died at the age of 50.
On Friday, the dad of three’s family said he had died, ending his four-year battle with lung cancer.
After being diagnosed in August 2020, the 50-year-old man was given six months to live. However, he refused to give up and kept working.
An Instagram post on Friday that talked about his “truly remarkable soul” revealed his sad death.
It also said, “It is with heavy hearts that we tell you that Jonnie has died.”
“He had a truly amazing soul, and he fought cancer bravely with all his strength and courage.” His warmth, kindness, and contagious spirit changed the lives of many.
“We ask that Jonnie’s family be given some privacy while they deal with their terrible loss right now.” They are very sad and would really appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and support.
“Let us celebrate a life well lived and a legacy that will always be etched in our hearts as we remember the wonderful times we spent with Jonnie.” Now that Jonnie is gone, we will always remember his love, laughter, and stories.
“Rest in peace, sweet Julie. We will miss you very much, but we will never forget you.
Now there are a lot of tributes from other stars, friends, and family.
Jasmine Harman, who also hosts Place in the Sun, shared a touching picture of the two on Instagram with the caption “the world is a little darker today.”
She also said, “Jonnie, you’ve taught me a lot in the years we’ve worked together and been friends.”
“In the last few years, as you’ve dealt with cancer with positivity, determination, and a bloody mind, I have admired you more than ever.”
“You are the strongest person I’ve ever met.” You made yourself, your family, and all of us proud.
Nicki Chapman, an ITV star, wrote, “Heart broken.” My heart goes out to Jess and her family.
“And escape from the country’s Sonali Shah: I feel so lucky to have known Jonnie.”
Someone from A Place in the Sun also said, “We are heartbroken.” Much love went out to Jonnie from everyone at A Place in the Sun. For more than 18 years, he brought joy, wit, and lots of energy to the show.
“We’ll really miss him. Today, our thoughts are with Jonnie’s family, especially Jess, the boys, and the rest of her family.
The Place in the Sun and Escape to the Country star had told The Sun before that he was sad that he wouldn’t get to see his kids grow up.
In March of last year, he said, “I really don’t think they’ll remember me.”
“They are too young to remember anything if I die this year and don’t come back.” They will be brought up by someone else.
“I did the hard work with them, now it’s their turn.”
Jonnie talked about how heartbroken he was when he was fired from A Place in the Sun after 18 years as a host.
Freeform Productions, the company that makes the show, said it couldn’t pay for Jonnie’s travel because he has cancer.
He didn’t tell anyone about his cancer for two years because he was afraid he would lose more work.
Jess, 41, was heartbroken when she found out her husband was sick, but he told her he would die for her and the boys.
She had said before, “He’s stubborn, determined, and a scrapper.”
“The truth breaks my heart every time I think about it, for the boys and for Jonnie.”
“It’s not fair at all, and I’m mad about how much it’s ruined the last few years and kept us from enjoying having a new family.”
