RIP

Evan Ellingson, who used to play a child actor on My Sister’s Keeper and CSI: Miami, has died at the age of 35.

His character on “CSI: Miami” was the son of David Caruso’s character.

Evan Ellingson has died at the age of 35. He was best known for his role in the 2009 movie My Sister’s Keeper.

The coroners division of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says Ellingson was found dead in a bedroom at his home in Fontana, California, on Sunday, November 5, at 11:31 a.m.

The reason he died has not been found. On Monday morning, there will be an autopsy.

TMZ was the first to report the story, saying that Ellingson’s father told them that the actor had a hard time with drugs and died in a sober living home.

Ellingson played Jesse in the 2009 cancer drama My Sister’s Keeper, which also starred Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin, Abigail Breslin, and Jason Patric. It was one of his most memorable roles.

Ellingson, who hasn’t been in a movie or TV show in over 10 years, played Lt. Horatio Caine’s son on CSI: Miami, played by David Caruso. Besides that, he played Jack Bauer’s nephew on 24 with Kiefer Sutherland.

The actor grew up in La Verne, California, with his three brothers. His IMDb bio says that he was “discovered at a skate park and was asked to not only skate for the Vans PeeWee team but also do a commercial for the Vans Company.”

It was his “unmistakable charisma and talent” that got him “asked to do a trilogy of short films playing a character that was written specifically for him,” which led to more roles, as his bio said.

In 2009, Ellingson told The Philippine Star while promoting CSI: Miami, “I never had the same [childhood] experience with my friends.” I spent more time with them than ever. But I had a great childhood. My favorite things kept me busy.

He said, “I had no regrets because I found my passion for acting early on.”
